The most sustainable building is the one that already exists. AIA Pittsburgh and the Green Building Alliance reveal the multiple layers of value that old buildings embody. The venue for our talk, MuseumLab, is a quintessential example of an existing, abandoned structure that was reborn as a uniquely beautiful, high-performance building—without sacrificing its historic and aesthetic integrity. Our presentation will briefly outline the themes that drive adaptive reuse and we will engage our attendees in lively discussion as we walk through the MuseumLab, examining its distinctive character.
